Hints for Finding Literacy Resources in Your Library
All Southern Tablelands Regional Library staff are professionally trained by literacy teachers, and are qualified to recognise and respond to the needs of anyone who needs help finding something suitable to read at a comfortable level, that will also help build English usage and reading skills.
The Literacy forLife @ Your Library Collection consists of modern and interesting books and audio material as well as online resources, often matched so that even non-readers can follow the written text while they listen to the narrated story. A large range of novels and graphic novels have been selected that have compelling stories, real life experiences and socially relevant contexts for young and adult readers alike.
Each collection has a set of reference materials such as dictionaries, books on grammar, writing, spelling and other aspects of English usage.
By searching the library’s online catalogue with an ‘all keyword’ search for the word literacy or with a ‘title keyword’ search for the name of series you have already identified as appropriate to your needs (eg. penguin will bring up a list of adult literacy readers in the penguin series).
